AMERICAN MODEL BUILDERS, INC. IS PLEASED TO ANNOUNCE AN EVER-GROWING "SYSTEM" OF LASER CUT GLAZING SETS, AND A VARIETY OF OTHER "UPGRADE" PARTS AND COMPONENTS FOR THE BRANCHLINE AND WALTHERS HEAVYWEIGHT PASSENGER CARS IN HO SCALE.
Note "Protrusion" of Kit Glazing At "A".
Whether you build railroad, aircraft, automobile or other models with windows, the injection molded clear parts have always been the most difficult aspect of making the model appear as if it is glazed with real glass. Branchline is to be commended for their efforts at producing some of the finest injection molded clear styrene windows this writer has seen in forty years of model building. However, if there are any minor problems with this kit, it lies with the glazing. This has been discussed on internet lists and in the model railroad press product reviews.
The primary concern expressed, regards the thickness of the kit's window "glass". As shown, it protrudes into the interior of the car. The excess material inside the body interferes with the close tolerance between the seats and the inside of the side walls, causing them to "bow"out slightly.
These photos illustrate the situation and how the laser cut windows recess into the window openings on the interior side walls with room to spare. Additionally, the laser cut acrylic (plex) windows are "clearer" and look more like real glass..

Don Wirth, of Frisco Fame, "conned" me out of an early set of windows and shades to model this beautiful Frisco Coach, Number 784, from an undecorated Branchline kit. Nice work, Don!! Model and Photos by Don Wirth
Once these parts "get out there" I am always very happy to receive your photos of models you've built using our parts! I will gladly accept any photos you wish to send me, and will put up Gallery pages of your work. Thanks in advance!
PLEASE NOTE: WHEREVER POSSIBLE, PROTOTYPE PHOTOS HAVE BEEN USED TO VERIFY THE AUTHENTICITY OF GLAZING "ARRANGEMENTS" ON THE PROTOTYPE. ALSO, CAR BUILDERS CYCLOPEDIAS HAVE BEEN STUDIED AND THE RAILROAD LOGOS ON THE LAVATORY GLASS ARE BASED UPON THAT INFORMATION. MANY TIMES, THE MANUFACTURERS OF THE WINDOWS WOULD ETCH THE CUSTOMER'S LOGO ON SAMPLES AS A SALES "ENTICEMENT". MOST OF OUR ETCHED LOGOS ARE BASED ON PHOTOS, HOWEVER SOME ARE BASED ON "WHAT MAY HAVE BEEN" AND MODELER'S LICENSE. WE HAVE BEEN ENCOURAGED BY EVEN THE STAUNCHEST "RIVET-COUNTERS' TO GO AHEAD AND PRODUCE THESE WINDOWS, EVEN THOUGH PHOTOGRAPHIC EVIDENCE MAY NOT EXIST TO SUPPORT THEIR USE. BASICALLY, WE'VE BEEN TOLD "THEY'RE SO NEAT LOOKING, DO THEM ANYWAY, I GOTTA HAVE SOME!"
BE SURE TO VISIT GO TO THE "HO" PAGES AND CLICK ON THE "WINDOWS" PAGE TO VIEW ALL OF THE WINDOW SETS WE MAKE. WE HAVE GLAZING SETS FOR THE NEW WALTHERS STREAMLINE/LIGHTWEIGHT CARS TOO!!
